Safety Quest: Safety, One Question at a Time

The Arundhati Foundation and QShala collaborate every year to bring you Safety Quest, an online quiz, entirely free, for school children across the country. The 2026 edition is its tenth year.

Why a quiz on safety

Safety lessons are easy to forget when they arrive as rules on a poster. A good question sticks. A child who has to think about what to do when a fire alarm rings, or why a pillion rider needs a helmet, remembers the answer far longer than one who has only been told. Safety Quest turns safety into something students want to figure out, and talk about with their friends and families afterwards.

What the questions cover

The quiz goes well beyond road rules. Its questions cover:

• Road safety: signs, signals, seatbelts and helmets, including why pillion riders need them too.
• Fire safety: how fires start, what to do in an emergency and how to stay calm.
• Cybersecurity: staying safe online, a topic that matters more to young people every year.
• Emergency numbers: who to call, and when, so help reaches faster.
  Stories of courage: real accounts of presence of mind from across the world, so students remember them and draw strength from them.

How it works

Safety Quest is played online, so school children from any city or town can join. It is free for every student, and the Arundhati Foundation and QShala run a new edition every year. Schools only need to encourage their students to sign up.

Where it began

Early editions were held in person, in Bengaluru and Goa. The Fire and Security Association of India and the Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services supported the Goa edition. Today the quiz is online, which lets children across the country take part together.
